De Kaepstander - Bed & Breakfast in Middelburg

Bram Francke – I taught history for almost 35 years in high school. For a long time I had the idea to do something with hospitality. This dream become true when in December 2019 we were able to buy ‘de Kaepstander’. Recently, I quit my job as a teacher and started to focus full-time on the B&B. Besides history, I like making music and I like to cook.

Christine Francke – I have worked in several health care related positions for a long time. Currently I am working as an interim manager. I will continue working in health care, but on a regular basis I also help out in the B&B.

 We have three children who study in Rotterdam and The Hague, and who are regularly home in Middelburg.

 We have a cat named Franco who can often be found in or around the house. He is very friendly and enjoys being around people. So you will most likely see him during your stay in our B&B.

PRACTICAL MATTERS:

Check-in is between 4 pm and 8 pm. If you expect to arrive later, please let us know in advance!

 Check-out before 10.30 am.

 Check-in is possible from 4 pm. Before this time, we are not at home or available to already store luggage. If you want to drop of your luggage somewhere, there are lockers available at the bike storage facility at Zusterplein.

Pets are not allowed in our B&B.

 BREAKFAST:

 Our prices do not include breakfast. Breakfast can be booked separately with the reservation.

A diverse selection of bread and spreads, coffee, tea, juice and fruits.

 Times: 7 – 9.30 am (if you want breakfast earlier, please contact us directly).

ACCESSIBILITY B&B

Car: In the direct neighborhood of the B&B there is only paid parking available at €2,80 per hour from 8 am to 8 pm. Free parking is available at the car park at Oude Veerseweg 1. This is a ten-minute walk from the B&B.

 Train: The B&B is located at a five-minute walk from the NS train station.

Bikes: There is no possibility for indoor parking of bikes at our B&B. At the other side of the street opposite our B&B there is the possibility to park the bikes against the church. We do have extra padlocks available. However, if you prefer your bikes to be parked indoors and guarded, there is a camera protected bicycle store at the train station, which is a five-minute walk from the B&B. It is also possible to rent bikes there.

HISTORIC STAIRCASE

The B&B is located in an old building, with a historic spiral staircase. For some people this staircase is a bit too steep. The guest rooms are located on the second and third floor and there is no elevator. If you have any questions about this, please contact us.
